How the Doodle came to be....
Doodles were created in Australia, where a Labrador Retriever was
purposely bred to a Standard Poodle.  The idea was to create a low to
non shedding dog that had the highest of intelligence.  These dogs
would be used for many services and make profound companions.
With the age of the internet, the news quickly spread. We were standing
ring side at an AKC show when we first heard the mention of a 'Doodle'.
The 'pure breed' folks were going nuts over the idea of this creation in the
US.  We began to research and soon we understood what the craze was
all about.  Our research took us to vets, vet consulting firms, genetic
specialist, and animal education specialist.
Genetically speaking these dogs are a great answer to age old problems
that plague so many pure breed lines......limited gene pools.  The
combination of 2 different breeds almost entirely eliminates the
occurrence of strong genetic defects otherwise present.  Eyes, hips, and
hearts are generally free from any defects in cross breeds.
Doodles were originally intended to be first generation only.  First
generation possesses such strong hybrid vigor.  As the breed caught on,
certain breeders began to mix and combine to create 'offshoots' of the
breed.  Some are artificially inseminating dogs that were not built to
breed to one another.  They are forgetting about trying to produce a dog
with hybrid vigor, but instead are trying to produce the 'smallest or curliest'
dog that is the farthest thing from its original maker....a retriever.  Think
about it;  where is  the Golden Retriever in a kinky coated, mis-sized, ill
matching organ 20 lb dog?  So are you getting a Doodle or a seriously
mis bred animal?   Why are these dogs being created......because people
not only buy them but they pay insanely large amounts of money for them.

Q-When do you have another litter planned?
A-For 2010, we will only have 2-3 litters of Goldendoodles.
We plan to have litters in late Summer or Fall.

Q-What are your prices?
A-American Goldendoodles are $1000 & English
Goldendoodles are $1500, F1B's are $1300. Our prices are
based on what  it takes us to run our kennel for the year.  We
do not discount puppies, because all of our puppies are
treated the same and get the same attention and level of
care.  And our prices do not fluctuate with demand.

Q-How long have you been involved in dogs?
A-Doodles-7 years, pure breeds 11 years.  We have
competed in field trials, obedience, and confirmation events.

Q-Why do you raise dogs?
A-It is a hobby!  We are struggling to keeps things fun.....it is
such a political thing.  We want things to be easy going and
not so business like.  We enjoy meeting families and sharing
this great experience with them.  There is nothing like
watching as a family goes over a litter of puppies selecting
just the perfect one.

Q-Do you have any type of guarantee?
A-Yes we have an elaborate health guarantee that can be
viewed on our 'Health' page.

Q-Do you allow visitors?
A-Certainly-when a reservation is made and the puppies are
the appropriate age.

Q-Do you pick our puppy or do we?
A-We prefer that you select your own puppy.  You will be
allowed to play with and view any available puppies in the
gender/litter you have selected.  We will have 'notes' on each
puppy to help you learn more about their personalities.

Q-Is this what you do for a living?
A-Oh no...for goodness sakes! We can't imagine depending
on dogs to pay our power bill!!!  Yikes!  The man of the
house is a contractor & I am a dental hygienist.

Q-Do you have other breeds of dogs?
A-We do have American Cocker Spaniels here also.  They
are/were show dogs.  It is a rare for us to have to have a litter
of them.  They have separate 'play areas' but share the
nighttime kennel facility.

Q-Where are your puppies raised?
A-Here-there-everywhere!!!  They are generally born in the
kennel.  As they grow, we move them around.  They all get
the opportunity to be in our house, my parents house, on the
road, and everywhere else we can possibly think of!

Q-What type of Doodles do you raise?
A-We only raise F1 American Goldendoodles and F1 English
Goldendoodles.
